Man Kwan Pak Kau Boys’ and Girls’ Football Teams competed in their respective inter-school fixtures

Man Kwan Pak Kau Boys’ and Girls’ Football Teams competed in their respective inter-school fixtures

On October 3 and 4, the Man Kwan Pak Kau Boys’ and Girls’ Football Teams competed in their respective inter-school fixtures.

Playing at Tin Yip Road Park, the Boys’ team took on Jockey Club Man Kwan Eduyoung College in the latest installment of the “Man Kwan Derby.” Both sides were evenly matched throughout the contest, creating chances at both ends of the pitch. Neither side was able to break the deadlock, and the match ended in a 0-0 draw.

Meanwhile, the Girls’ team made their inter-school competition debut at Sha Tsui Road Playground in Tsuen Wan against SKH Tang Shiu Kin Secondary School. After a challenging first half, the team adjusted their tactics at the break and created several promising goal-scoring opportunities in the second half. However, they were unable to capitalize on those chances, ultimately conceding two goals in each half to finish in a 0-4 defeat.

While the results were not entirely ideal, the players showed great resolve and gained valuable match experience. Both teams will continue to work hard and build on these performances in their upcoming fixtures.

“Designing My Learning Journey” — Japan (Nagoya) Self-directed Learning Study Tour 2026

“Designing My Learning Journey” — Japan (Nagoya) Self-directed Learning Study Tour 2026

Representatives of our school departed for Nagoya, Japan, to take part in a self-directed learning study tour and training programme. Today, our students attended the tennis events at the Aichi–Nagoya Asian Games, including the round-of-16 match featuring Hong Kong tennis player Coleman Wong. Witnessing Hong Kong athletes compete with such determination gave students a firsthand look at the strength and resilience of Hong Kong’s sporting talent.

As part of this study tour, participating students are also required to complete the Boys’ Brigade International Relations Badge Programme, which runs from May to September 2026. Participants are tasked with planning and executing their own self-directed learning activities throughout the trip. After returning to Hong Kong, they will compile their experiences and findings into a report.

In addition to attending the Asian Games in Nagoya, our teachers and students explored local attractions to deepen their understanding of Japanese culture. During the trip, they visited Ghibli Park, Inuyama Castle, Pokémon Center Nagoya, and the Port of Nagoya Public Aquarium. Besides learning about Japan’s anime and manga culture, they also visited Inuyama Castle, whose castle keep is designated a National Treasure of Japan. During the trip, participants also had the opportunity to try on traditional Japanese kimonos and visit local shrines.

On 2/10/2026, our students went to the Asian Games in Nagoya to watch men’s and women’s rugby sevens as well as rhythmic gymnastics. At the venue, they cheered on the Hong Kong rugby sevens teams and witnessed a proud moment as the men’s team won the gold medal and the women’s team secured the bronze.

This invaluable experience gave students a first-hand appreciation of the determination, perseverance, and teamwork demonstrated by Hong Kong athletes. They also watched rhythmic gymnastics for the first time—an event that highlights flexibility, musicality, and artistic expression. Accompanied by music, athletes perform routines on the floor while skillfully handling apparatus such as hoops, balls, clubs, and ribbons.

Through watching different competitions, students gained a deeper understanding of the diversity of sports and broadened their horizons.

“Designing My Learning Journey” — Japan (Nagoya) Self-directed Learning Study Tour 2026 has come to a successful close. Following the conclusion of the 2026 Asian Games, the students have returned safely to Hong Kong. During their final two days in Japan, they visited Osu Kannon Temple, went shopping along Osu Shopping Street, and spent a fun day at Legoland Japan.

By taking ownership of their itineraries—navigating crowded local transport, adjust the itineraries, and completing group tasks—students strengthened their six deep learning competencies, including communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and citizenship.
