Shanghai Technology Study Tour – Company Tour

To deepen educational exchanges between Shanghai and Hong Kong, around 30 teachers and students from our school conducted a technology-themed study program in Shanghai from April 16th to 20th. During the trip, students explored top universities to experience academic excellence, participated in interactive classes at secondary schools, and engaged in diverse activities to appreciate the cultural heritage and vitality of this sci-tech innovation hub. 

On the third day of the technology study exchange program, we visited Fudan University, known as “the top university in Jiangnan.” Strolling along the plane tree-lined Guanghua Road, students immersed themselves in the scholarly ambiance of this century-old institution. At an exchange session with Hong Kong and Macau students, Fudan teachers and students warmly shared their academic journeys in Cantonese, recounting their efforts to gain admission to the university. 

In the afternoon, the group went to Shanghai Xin Fuxing Junior Middle School, where students from both cities collaborated in science workshops. Through fun experiments explaining Bernoulli’s principle, followed by a cross-regional volleyball friendly match described as a “youthful symphony,” lasting friendships were forged. 

On the fourth day, accompanied by the morning breeze along the Huangpu River, the group visited Shanghai Jiao Tong University, one of China’s “Twin Stars of Higher Education.” Walking through the “Tunnel of Time and Space” in the university’s history museum, students traced the institution’s legacy from its founding in 1896 as Nanyang Public School—established to revitalize the nation through industry—to viewing the manuscripts of Qian Xuesen’s “Two Bombs, One Satellite” project in the library. This journey through three centuries of scientific and educational patriotism broadened their perspectives.

Shanghai Technology Study Tour – School Exchange

China’s aerospace technology is advancing at a remarkable pace, with the domestically developed C919 passenger aircraft now in commercial service, carrying passengers across the skies.  

To provide students immersive learning opportunities, our school joined the “Shanghai New Productive Forces Study Tour” organized by Hong Kong 01 from April 16 to 20. A delegation of 29 students and faculty embarked on an educational journey to Shanghai, featuring in-depth field studies at COMAC’s C919 production facility, interactive sessions with industry leaders at Bilibili headquarters, and explorations of innovation hubs such as Zhangjiang Robot Valley and West Bund Media Port. The program also included academic exchanges with top-tier institutions—Fudan University and Shanghai Jiao Tong University—and cross-cultural dialogues with local high schools, fostering a holistic understanding of China’s technological and educational advancements.

The second day of the Shanghai Technology Study Tour focused on corporate visits, where we entered the core sites of Shanghai’s high-end manufacturing industry. From aviation to smart vehicle factories, digital media to innovation ecosystems, teachers and students gained up-close understanding of the “Intelligent Manufacturing in China” and its new quality productive forces, experiencing the surging momentum of a technologically powerful nation.  

At the COMAC Pudong Base, students witnessed the precision operations of the C919 final assembly line at zero distance. They were astonished to observe five C919 aircraft being assembled simultaneously, from the integration of fuselage structures to the installation of aviation systems and engine components, accompanied by detailed explanations from engineers. This allowed them to understand how the nation independently developed the C919 commercial airliner by breaking through technological blockades.  

In the afternoon, students visited the SAIC-GM automobile manufacturing plant. They marveled at the automated assembly line production, where over 90% of processes are completed with precision through coordinated industrial robotic arms and conveyor belts, significantly reducing manual labor while enhancing manufacturing accuracy. They also learned about China’s capability in independent manufacturing, from individual components to complete vehicles.  

The day concluded at Bilibili Headquarters (known as B Station), hailed as “China’s Youth Cultural Landmark.” The anime-themed dome and technology-driven exhibition halls immediately ignited students’ exploratory enthusiasm. Through the visit, they realized that new media serves not only as entertainment but also as a super engine for knowledge dissemination and a crucial channel for spreading Chinese culture.

France and UK Study Tour

France and UK

After visiting Italy in previous years, the History Department has chosen to focus on Europe again this year, with study trips to France and the UK. This allows students to experience local culture firsthand and enhances their interest in history.

Through an in-depth exploration of famous landmarks and museums in England and France, students not only broaden their horizons but also reinforce what they have learned in history class. They step out of the classroom to see the classic artifacts and architecture found in their textbooks.

During the seven-day trip, students visited prominent sites such as the Louvre, Notre-Dame, the Eiffel Tower, the Arc de Triomphe, and the Palace of Versailles in France, as well as the British Museum, Tower Bridge, the Houses of Parliament, and Westminster Abbey in the UK. They even traveled as far as Mont Saint-Michel in Normandy, France. With detailed explanations from their teachers, students gained a profound understanding of the contemporary value of the histories and cultures of both countries.

“I make my learning journey” Expo2025 Japan Tour

Members of our school’s Boys’ Brigade have departed for Osaka, Japan, to participate in a visit to Expo 2025 and conduct a self-directed learning study tour. The World Expo is a large-scale event that connects global citizens and showcases innovative technologies from countries around the world.

Prior to the trip, participating students took part in the Boys’ Brigade International Knowledge Badge course, which was conducted from February to April. As part of the program, students were required to plan their own study activities upon arrival in Japan. After returning to Hong Kong, they will compile their research findings into a report.

Tsukuba Science Edge 2025

19 representatives of teachers and students from Man Kwan Pak Kau College, Jockey Club Man Kwan Eduyoung College and Man Kwan QualiEd College, flew to Japan to participate in TSUKUBA SCIENCE EDGE 2025. Students competed with teams from Southeast Asia and Japan by sharing their results of scientific and I.T. research.

The two-day, one-night study tour “Exploring and Practicing Opportunities in the Smart Greater Bay Area”

Sponsored by the Lions Club of Hong Kong Host, Central Lions Club, and Hong Kong New Territories West Lions Club, the two-day, one-night study tour “Exploring and Practicing Opportunities in the Smart Greater Bay Area” was successfully held from March 15 to 16, 2025, providing an invaluable learning and experiential journey for participating students and teachers.

The event attracted participation from five schools, including SKH Bishop Baker Secondary School, Pok Oi Hospital Tang Pui King Memorial College, Man Kwan Pak Kau College, Tin Shui Wai Methodist College, and Shap Pat Heung Rural Committee Kung Yik She Secondary School. Our school (10 students from Forms 2 to 4 to join the tour), exploring the Greater Bay Area alongside other students and teachers.

During the tour, students visited Gaomei Air Conditioning Equipment Co., Ltd., Yongnong Machinery Cooperative, Lee Kum Kee (Xinhui) Food Co., Ltd., and Xinhui Chenpi Village. They gained in-depth insights into the industrial development and innovative practices of the Greater Bay Area. Through face-to-face exchanges with entrepreneurs, students learned about modern agricultural technologies, operated agricultural drones, and explored the operational models of cooperatives. ancing their understanding of the region’s diverse economy and cultural richness.

This study tour not only broadened the students’ horizons but also inspired them to reflect on their future academic and career planning. Many students expressed that they gained a lot from the experience, not only acquiring knowledge but also igniting their passion for innovation and entrepreneurship.

Osaka-Shikoku Environmental Conservation and Cultural Deep Learning Tour

The school organized a “Osaka-Shikoku Environmental Conservation and Cultural Deep Learning Tour” from March 13-18. The itinerary was very rich, including: Visiting “Panasonic Eco Technology Center” to learn about electronic appliance recycling and processing procedures;Touring the Kamikatsu Zero Waste Center, a zero-waste town that sorts recyclables into 45 categories with a recycling rate exceeding 80%;Visiting the Kobe Earthquake Memorial Museum to experience the power of earthquakes and understand their impact on Japanese people. Cultural activities such as tea ceremony experience and handmade udon noodle making. 

Most notably, students had the precious opportunity to stay with local host families, cooking together and experiencing farming, allowing them to truly experience local culture. The scenes of students and host families exchanging gifts and embracing each other during farewell were particularly touching.

During the six-day, five-night trip, students gained valuable insights and developed a deeper understanding of Japanese history and conservation culture. There is a Japanese tea ceremony saying – “Ichigo Ichie” (一期一會), meaning “one time, one meeting” – this exchange program was indeed a precious encounter, and it was wonderful to see students cherishing and fully engaging throughout the entire program.

UK study tour

UK and Denmark

Our teachers led a group of six students to participate in an exchange programme in the UK and Denmark recently, which included a range of cultural and technology-related experiences. One of the highlights was attending the largest educational technology exhibition in Europe – the Bett Show, where our team shared our school’s strategies in STEAM creation and innovative approaches to teaching and learning.

At the Bett Show Mr. Lee Chi Yuen and three Form 1 students presented the school’s successful experience in leveraging Goodnotes Classroom in lessons to attendees from around the world. They shared classroom examples demonstrating how Goodnotes enhanced teaching and learning efficiency, showcased innovative applications in teaching strategies, and highlighted their adept use of technology. The presentation also allowed participants to see how Goodnotes and related AI features could facilitate teaching and learning.

Our students who participated stood out with their excellent performance, displaying great confidence during their presentations, which drew unanimous praise from the audience. This also gave attendees an opportunity to understand the unique learning experiences of our students and their global perspectives.

Hope more students and teachers participate in such exchanges and presentations in the future to drive educational development with a global outlook.

Exchange program in the United Kingdom and Denmark

UK and Denmark

This 13-day educational study tour aimed to help participants understand international educational trends and innovative teaching methods, with a focus on STEAM education and the application of educational technology. The itinerary included visits to renowned institutions in the UK such as Oxford University, educational technology companies like Apple UK and GoodNotes, and the globally renowned education technology exhibition, Bett Show, to explore cutting-edge educational products and STEAM project displays. Several professional workshops were also arranged to help participants master innovative teaching techniques and enhance curriculum design skills. The tour was complemented by cultural exploration, including visits to iconic landmarks such as the British Museum and Tower Bridge.

Additionally, the itinerary featured an educational technology study tour in Denmark, including a visit to KUBO Denmark to gain insights into how educational robots are integrated into classroom teaching and participate in workshops to experience innovative technologies firsthand. The group also visited the Hans Christian Andersen Museum to combine cultural learning with educational inspiration. Through this dual learning experience in the UK and Denmark, participants gained an understanding of the latest trends in the integration of cutting-edge technology with education.

STEAM – Taiwan Maker Faire Technology Learning Exchange Tour

Our students embarked on a five-day STEAM – Taiwan Maker Faire Technology Learning Exchange Tour to Taipei on November 29. This exchange tour not only provided students with an opportunity to showcase their achievements but also allowed them to gain deeper insights into Taiwan’s innovative technology development and cultural heritage.

The students participated in the Taiwan Maker Faire, where they presented their projects to participants from around the world and exchanged creative insights with other exhibitors. Through their exposure to various innovative technology applications at the exhibition, students broadened their horizons and gained valuable presentation experience.

The itinerary also included visits to several famous Taiwanese landmarks, including Da’ an Forest Park, which holds significant ecological educational value, where students learned about urban ecosystem conservation. They also visited the culturally rich Jiufen Old Street and Shifen Station, where they experienced traditional culture through sky lantern releasing and gained a deeper understanding of local historical development. The students also visited the National Taiwan Science Education Center to explore various scientific knowledge

Through this Taiwan tour, students not only showcased their creative achievements but also personally experienced Taiwan’s technological development and cultural characteristics, broadening their international perspective and gaining valuable insights.
